It was developed by Blizzard Entertainment for platforms that include Windows and macOS. This video game was developed in 2015 and features heroes from other franchises of Blizzard Entertainment which include The Lost Vikings, Diablo, Overwatch, Warcraft, and Starcraft. - Ranked: This is pretty much the same as the unranked gameplay but in this version, the game is ranked and the players are placed in two categories: Bronze and Grand Master, depending on their performance. Ranked gameplay has two modes: Hero League and Team League.
- Heroes Brawl: This was the latest addition to the game and has three subsections, each with different rules which change every week:
- Arenas - The players can select one out of a total of three randomly selected heroes.
- Mutators - This version uses unique mechanics to change gameplay on familiar maps.
- Single-Lanes - This is a one-lane battleground with no specific objectives.

‘Heroes of the Storm’ is an online game with two competing teams of five players each. The players can choose from the many gameplay modes, they can also choose to play against the computer if they do not want to compete against other players. In the beginning, heroes are not available permanently to be used but the players can choose from a list of heroes that are free to use that is rotated weekly. To gain permanent access to a hero, gold coins which are the in-game currency or payment through microtransactions can be used. By January of 2018, there were a total of 85 heroes featured on the game. The heroes are divided into four categories based on their roles – Support, Assassin, Specialist, and Warrior. There are currently 15 maps that can be chosen for the game, each with its objectives and winning goals.
Experience points can be gained by being in the proximity of enemy units when they are killed and are shared by the entire team. When the team reaches a certain threshold for experience, each of the five player’s hero levels up, with more powers added to the hero’s abilities. Players can also mount different animals like unicorns, horses, and lizards to increase their speed but they automatically dismount when attacking or using any ability. Teamwork is really important in this game as the action of one player has consequences for all the members of the team.
